Kicking off!
Our new website is about to go live!
As a company it is really important to us that we keep everyone updated on our current and future projects, so we're really excited to be launching our website.
Our current production, 'The Cat Burglar' is about to go in to rehearsals ready for the performances in March and April 2018. Head over to our facebook page for cast announcements and updates as well as rehearsal ideas and pictures. We are so excited about this show, Out of Ideas haven't yet done a comedy show so this is both challenging and really fun to do. 'The Cat Burglar' follows the shenanigans of two detectives- Douglas and Victor- and their rather mismatched team as they try to solves the mystery of a stolen cat named Mabel. When I was writing this play I found it increasingly fun to picture all of the slapstick parts and the cast that I have to work with are very much ready for the opportunity to 'beat' each other up, in a controlled way of course!
So a bit about the cast and crew: my name is Sarah Ridley and I am the writer and director of the play, I studied acting at Rose Bruford College and have since worked in film, theatre and also as a writer. My previous show 'Snowflakes' was given really good reviews and I hope that we can achieve the same with Cat Burglar!
Our Assistant Director and Theresa Green (Mabel's Owner) is the lovely Charlotte Jakes. Having just turned 18 Charlotte is doing in her directing career, having directed an exert from A Midsummer Night's Dream earlier in 2017, which was loved by the audience. Charlotte comes to us having performed for a few years and is an energetic and loveable member of our team.
The man taking on the challenge of the slightly crazed Douglas in the play is Joe Fallowell. Joe has worked with the team before on 'Snowflakes' playing the role of Patrick and was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor award in that role. Joe has already had the cast in stitches in the read through and we have high hopes for him when he brings Douglas to life on stage.
Next up is Seph Moloney who will be tackling the role of Victor. Seph and I met at college and have since worked together a lot on various shows, including Snowflakes where we played husband and wife. Seph is a talented actor and a great team member, who never fails to entertain with a wise crack of some description.
The youngest member of our cast is 16 year old Dano Di Credico. Dano took on the lead role of Will in Snowflakes and has come back once again to play Douglas' son Fuzz. Dano is another one with heaps of talent and a great sense of humour. He has already taken to Fuzz and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do with the role.
Last but not least is Sargent Sugar, better known as Hannah Ridley. In the spirit of keeping things in the family, Hannah is my twin sister and getting to have the power over her on this one is the main reason she was cast. Im kidding of course, Hannah is a hard working and talented actress, once described as having 'a good face for a victim' after playing Hero in Much Ado about nothing. She comes in to play the bucket of sass that is SGT Sugar and we can't wait to get started!
So that's that! The play and the cast have been introduced and the website is about to go live!
This blog will be up on the website every week with updates about the shows we are doing and will be doing so keep your eyes peeled.
We hope to see you soon,
The team at Out of Ideas :)
